Students (I.D. required at check-in): $50
Receive a manuscript or portfolio critique by an editor, agent or creative director for an additional charge of $35. You must be registered by September 23 to do so.
We are inviting SCBWI members to participate in the Book Sale and Signing. To participate you must: be a current member (writer and/or illustrator); register for the conference before September 23; and, have a book(s) published in 2010–2011.
The program is subject to change; a current agenda will be provided with registration materials at check-in. No pre-registration required for conference Workshops.

Dan Santat graduated with honors from the Art Center, College of Design. One day a year he is Santa Claus, but the other 364 days he works as a children’s book writer and commercial illustrator. He is also the creator of Disney’s animated hit, “The Replacements.” He lives in Southern California with his wife, two kids, a rabbit, a bird, and one cat.
Alison McGhee is a Pulitzer Prize nominee and a #1 New York Times bestselling author. She writes for all ages and in all forms, from poetry and stories to novels and picture books and essays. Her books are popular with critics and readers alike. She is an associate professor of creative writing at Metropolitan State University and was a founding member of Hamline University’s MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults.

First Pages for Writers
(No Fee)
An annual event! Editors and authors will critique randomly chosen, first pages of anonymous manuscripts. Writer’s name must NOT appear on the first page. To have your work considered, email your first page to studio@quinettecook.com; include your full name and FIRST PAGES in the subject line. First Pages must be received by September 23.
First Look for Illustrators
(No Fee)
Experienced panelists will provide constructive feedback to randomly chosen artwork. To have your work considered, submit up to three samples of your artwork on a CD and mail with your registration. First Looks must be received by September 23.
General Guidelines:
• Horizontal format preferred.
• Vertical images will be reduced to fit the screen.
• Artwork will NOT be returned.
• Works will be shown in the order submitted as time permits.
CD Submission:
• File size should not exceed 1 MB.
• Image resolution should be 150 dpi.
• Please label your mailed envelope “FIRST LOOK Submission”.
• All art should include your name and contact info, but Artist name must NOT appear on artwork.
Portfolio and Manuscript Reviews
For Writers ($35 fee):
To be considered, email five double-spaced pages of your manuscript (or 1 picture book) to studio@quinettecook.com; include your full name and MANUSCRIPT in the subject line. Manuscripts are chosen randomly and will NOT be returned. Include a separate check for $35 with your registration. Payment must be received by September 23.
For Illustrators ($35 fee):
Participants are chosen randomly and will be notified prior to the conference. If chosen, bring your portfolio to the conference. Please include a separate check for $35 with your registration. Payment must be received by September 23.

Parking Information
Parking is available in a lot on Maria Ave., directly across from the campus. The parking fee at the Saint Paul Campus is $2.50. Handicapped accessible parking is readily available in the parking lots adjacent to the St. Paul Campus.
