Chris Wold Dyrud

In my teens I was earning my money by painting rock pins and house portraits. After receiving my BA in Art at Penn State, I had the opportunity to spend a year teaching art at the Anglo-American School in Moscow, USSR, where my Dad was finishing up his Air Force career. My Norwegian heritage and relatives led me to settle in Minnesota, where I met my husband. We have lived in Brooklyn Park since 1983. Our son and daughter have finished college now, and we've gained a daughter-in-law.

In 30 years of free-lance illustration, I've worked on everything from greeting cards and puzzles to textbooks and cookbooks. I've illustrated many series book covers and children's magazine features, while also working for many educational and religious companies. I continue to develop many of the ideas from my own piles and files, while participating in a local writing group.
